Well Sanitations

Sanitizing a well is a 2 day process in which we immerse the well in a combination of chemicals to sanitize. Once these chemicals have sat for the amount of time required we then need to flush the well. Flushing the well requires us to leave the pump running for approximately 4-5 hours. In some cases we will need to re-circulate the well therefore the pump will be running slightly longer. Crystal Clear Water Purification Inc. is not responsible for any pump issues that may occur due to an unstable pump.

House Line Sanitations

Sanitizing the house lines is a process in which we are putting chemicals into the lines & heater of the home to sanitize. This process can cause debris that are stuck in the lines to become free. In turn this debris may clog the screens on your faucets, showerheads, toilets, and cartridges. Crystal Clear Water is not responsible to fix this. We are letting you know that this may occur and you may find that you don’t have water at a specific faucet, or that there is very low pressure. Please read all instructions below.

Instructions for the sanitation process:

  1. Remove all faucet screens, shower heads ect. To prevent them from clogging when flushing the lines. It is common for debris to break loose and clog the screens and shower heads.
  2. Run the cold water at every faucet in house for approximately 5-10 minutes or until bleach/chemical smell is gone. Make sure the handle is pushed all the way to the cold side. The cold water will not smell like chemicals after you do this process
  3. Switch all faucets and tubs to the far hot side and run everywhere in the house for a period of 5-10 minute intervals. The chemicals in the hot water tank can be noticeable for the next few days, this is normal for sanitations. (Chemical smell in the hot water might be noticeable for a period of 4-5 days)
  4. Run your washing machine empty with no clothes in it for 2 complete cycles using both hot and cold water settings to ensure no more chlorine/chemicals are in the water lines at your washing machine. After cycles are finished run your washer again if needed to be sure all chemicals have been thoroughly flushed.
  5. Screens do have to be removed and cleaned multiple times throughout this process as debris will continue to flush out. If there is still smelly water after this process, make sure to check the screens again. If Crystal Clear Water returns to the home after this process for smelly water and the issue is due to the screens having debris, there will be a fuel surcharge.

**PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE USING THE RO SYSTEM OR LEAVING THE HOME.**

After you purchase the system, you have the option to have a lifetime warranty on the whole system including the filters. How it works is you pay $12.95 a month for a minimum of one year, and the plan will cover all service calls (excluding after hours), parts, filters, faucets and leaks. This will remain in affect the entire time your plan is active.

Here are the steps to follow when changing the filters or installing a new under-sink reverse osmosis system.

  1. ALWAYS CHECK FOR LEAKS EVERY 30 MIN –1HOUR FOR THE 1ST 72 HOURS. IF YOU LEAVE THE HOME ALWAYS SHUT THE WATER OFF TO THE UNIT AND TURN THE RO TANK OFF. (USUALLY A BLUE HANDLE ON THE TANK ITSELF). CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LEAKS. CUSTOMER IS TO NOTIFY CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER IMMEDIATELY DURING BUSINESS OR AFTER HOURS IF A LEAK IS TO OCCUR.
  2. Your new filters are filled with preservatives along with carbon dust and must be properly flushed before you drink the water. From your new ro faucet turn the water on and let the water run till it stops down to a trickle. Turn faucet off and wait 1 hour and repeat this process 4-6 times before you drink the water.
  3. Your pre and post filters should be changed every year. That’s all the ones on the bottom and the post filter on top. You need to do this in order for your membrane to achieve its maximum life expectancy of (3-5 years) . Failure to do this will result in premature failure of your membrane and possible bacteria growth. The best idea is to get yourself a tds meter and measure the tds to monitor the water quality or get on the 12.95 lifetime plan.
  4. Anytime you open or change the filters on a reverse osmosis system, It is recommend to use a sanitizer you can pour directly in the sump and sanitize the whole system to kill any bacteria that may be present.

Optional Ultra Violet light for all reverse osmosis systems. When your on well water there is no telling if you have bacteria in your well, water system or the actu-al pipes themselves. We will recommend a bacteria light which will kill bacteria and protect your family from viruses and other harmful contaminates.

Booster pump or transfer pump option—This option is available if your would like to get better quality water and more pressure to places like your faucet or far distances like your refrigerator/icemaker
Multi Membrane upgrade—This option is for customers who want a little better quality water and to conserve more water. You will waste less than half of a sin-gle membrane system.

Auto shut off Option is a device that goes under the sink for if you encounter a leak. The leak detector will automatically shut off the water to the unit so you do not flood your cabinets.

This unit has to go through a cleaning cycle that by default is set to go off between midnight and 2: 00 am, though this cycle time can be altered if it is absolutely needed . When it cleans itself out or regenerates it will change cycles and a little water does come out of the screen just for a moment, this is normal. YOU CANNOT USE WATER OR FLUSH TOILETS DURING THIS REGENERATION PERIOD OR YOU WILL GET SMELLY WATER INSIDE YOUR HOUSE. Please ask your Technician about upgrading to a NO HARD WATER BYPASS that is easily adapted to your new Gen 5 system for minimal extra cost.

If you ever run out of water please make sure you have checked the following. Check the water from the well to make sure its flowing. If not, you have a prob-lem with the well switch, underground wire or the well pump. Next, check the holding tank to make sure its full. If not you might have something running or using the water constantly like a toilet or left hose on or filling the pool. Also check the gfi outlet-push button by the water system or it will be on the back gar-age wall on the outlet or it could be in the main breaker panel. If your tank is full there will be a switch ( which is a gray for black square box) on the side of the tank and will have a lever on the side which was shown to you by our tech that installed it. The metal lever will have to be lifted up slowly until the pump kicks on. Once you hear you pump turn on you will have to hold the lever in that position until it stays on automatically. ( usually around 50-60psi)

Overflowing holding tank — If your tank overflows the first thing to do Is go in the cabinet itself and look all the way to the le ft or all the way to the right and you will see a ball valve which is a red lever next to the blue filter sump. Turn it off by being per pendicular with the water pipe. You will have water to the house. However, your tank will not refill automatically until that ball valve is turne d back on. Call Crystal Clear Water Purification INC to inform us of the issue. If your tank is running low of water make sure to turn the bi g ball valve back on to make your tank fill and repeat the process as needed.

Sulfur System

  1. Now that you have your new sulfur filter Installed You may notice some cloudy water coming in the house for the next few days. The reason for this is because the media in your sulfur filter is very porous and usually takes a few days for the water to totally saturate the media relieving all of the air pockets within your new system. The gray cloudy water you see is mostly oxygen in the water and will dissipate after a few seconds. Once the system is completely flushed out/ rinsed thoroughly the water will be crystal clear in the house.
  2. This unit has to go through a cleaning cycle that by default is set to go off between midnight and 2: 00 am, though this cycle time can be altered if it is abso-lutely needed . When it cleans itself out or regenerates it will change cycles and a little water does come out of the screen just for a moment, this is normal. YOU CAN-NOT USE WATER OR FLUSH TOILETS DURING THIS REGENERATION PERIOD OR YOU WILL GET SMELLY WATER INSIDE YOUR HOUSE. Please ask your Technician about upgrading to a NO HARD WATER BYPASS that is easily adapted to your new Gen 5 system for minimal extra cost
  3. If you have just switched from an aerator system to an upgraded sulfur filter, your water pressure is now supplied from your 1hp well pump which in most cases is nearly double the Gallons per minute of your 1/2 house pump Inside your aerator and may be dislodging debris that was previously growing In your pipes in your home. This may cause your screens in your faucets and showers to become clogged, restricting the flow of water into your house and even making your water smell. In these cases we recommend a full house line sanitation to clean all the pipes in your house and also recommend sanitizing your water heater as well. Please ask your sales associate about an anode rod removal for an additional fee and In most cases this service can be performed by your installer at time of initial hook up. ??
  4. Gallon usage— a standard sulfur filter set up is capable of filtering up to 400 gallons per day and would be considered high water usage. Average 75 –100 gal-lons per day per person . DO NOT FILL YOUR POOL , WATER YOUR PLANTS OR GRASS WITH TREATED (which is water after the system.) WATER EX-CEEDING 400 GALLONS PER DAY OR YOUR UNIT WILL CAUSE YOU TO HAVE SMELLY WATER AND COULD VOID YOUR WARRANTY. If you Think your NORMAL daily usage Will be more than 400 gallons per day Please contact our office for details about upgrading to a larger size unit !!

Sulfur filters tend to last 300-600k gallons per rebed of the unit. Depending on the water quality.
Maintenance required for your sulfur filter. Your sulfur filter inlet needs to be checked for sulfur bacteria, injectors, cages and screens cleaned. The microprocessor needs to be checked for gallon capacity and water usage, as well as checking programming. Chemicals are needed every so often to clean the multi media from the build up of sulfur or contaminates from well. On our complete monthly service which includes your water softener and salt, chemical clean and citric acid.
