WELL WATER- Contaminants
Ground water can contain some contaminants, even with no human activity or pollution. These contaminants can come from many conditions in the ground. Water moving through underground rocks and soils may pick up magnesium, calcium and chlorides. Some ground water naturally contains arsenic, boron, selenium, & radon. As well as micro-organisms, flouride, nitrates/nitrites, heavy metals, and radionuclides (Uranium & radium). Human Activities contribute greatly to pollutants in our water supply these include pesticides, fertilizers, animal waste, heavy metals, industrial waste, landfills, pharmaceuticals, household waste & acid rain.
